LAHORE, Nov 5: Fiery bowling by Sarfraz Ahmed and dogged batting by Bilal Khilji kept alive Wapda’s slim hopes of victory against Sui Gas in the Patron's Trophy Grade-I match at Sheikhupura Stadium on Sunday.

Wapda, who are chasing a paltry target of 98, closed the penultimate day of the four-day fixture at 81 for seven with Bilal batting on 34 and Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq (6).

Wapda launched their second innings on a disastrous note when they five wickets for mere 19 runs, including the key scalp of Pakistan top batsman Mohammad Yousuf (1).

But the left-handed Bilal, who was promoted to No 4, stood firm.

Left-arm seamer Samiullah Niazi, who took six for 42 in the first innings, claimed three for 29. Right-arm pacer Imran Ali captured three for 28.

Earlier, Wapda’s lanky left-arm paceman Sarfraz returned impressive figures of four for 17 as Sui Gas were bowled out for 224 after resuming their second innings at 125-2.

Sui Gas skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was the top-scorer with 42 while opener Yasir Arafat made 40.
