CPNE urges arrest of culprits

Published November 3, 2006

KARACHI, Nov 2: The Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors has demanded that the killers of journalist Malik Mohammad Ismail Khan be arrested without delay. CPNE president Fasih Iqbal and secretary-general Wamiq Zuberi on Thursday condemned the killing of journalists in the country. They said the government had failed to protect citizens, especially those associated with media organisations, from acts of terrorism.

They recalled that PPI Bureau Chief Malik Ismail and Online’s Dera Ismail Khan correspondent Maqbool Hussain Sayal had lost their lives while discharging their duties.—PPI
