Pakistani sailors to train abroad

KARACHI, Nov 1: The Doha Asian Games bound Match Racing sailing quartet leaves for Bahrain on Sunday to feature in a regatta being held there from Nov 5 to 11. Before returning home the sailors will make a week long stop-over at Dubai where they will further train to improve their skills, secretary general, Pakistan Sailing Federation (PSAF), Cdr Navaid Usmani, said on Wednesday.

Another batch of five sailors picked for the Asiad will attend a regatta at Kuwait from Nov 20 to 24. Both the trips are funded by the cash starved PSAF on the instructions of its president vice-admiral S.V. Naqvi.

Match Racing squad: Lt. Cdr Mamoon Sadiq, Lt. Cdr Zahid Rauf, Amir Nawaz, Hameed Baloch. Cdr (retd) Navaid Usmani (manager).

Squad for Kuwait: Mohammad Yousuf, Ashfaq Iqbal, Sabahatullah Babar, Abdul Rehman and Ghazal Mir Masood.
