Over 130,000 get jobs abroad

Published October 31, 2006

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30: The Bureau of Overseas Employment secured jobs for 131,954 Pakistanis abroad till the end of September this year. According to a press release issued by the bureau, it provided jobs to 143,329 Pakistani workers over the past year. The figure included people who got job in Saudi Arabia.

Since July 2005, a total of 11,842 persons proceeded to Malaysia because of the bureau’s efforts. Cases of 1,704 more people were being processed and further demand from Malaysia was expected soon.

Since the demand for Pakistani workers in Malaysia was gradually increasing, it is expected that Malaysian public and private sectors would place the demand for Pakistani workers in large number in the coming days.

The bureau said it had augmented its efforts to boost export of Pakistani manpower and the role of middlemen in the process had almost been eliminated.
