KARACHI, Oct 28: Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East (BFAME) bridge championship will be held in the city from May 12, secretary-general of the Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) Tariq Rasheed Khan announced on Saturday.

Besides title holder India, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Syria, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Pakistan will feature in the nine-day championship.

He said that men and women Open team competition, youth (U-26) and seniors (Over-59 years of age) and transnational competition will be part of the championship.

He said the Pakistan Sports Board was partially sponsoring the event.

Pakistan’s top bridge players like Zia Mahmood, Nishat Abedi, Sajid Isphahani and Sarfraz Ahmed will represent the country.

Tariq announced that trials to select teams of men, women, youth and seniors will be held in November.—APP
