HYDERABAD, Oct 18: About 50 employees of Education Works Department staged a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad press club here on Thursday against sending the employees to surplus pool.

Talking to newsmen the president of the association Saifullah Sehto and general secretary Nadeem Shaikh said that 400 employees of the Education Works Department had been sent to the surplus pool and feared that ultimately their services will be terminated.

They demanded that the transfer and posting orders of the employees should be cancelled and their postings should be done according to their district domiciles.

They also demanded that their sub-divisions should be setup at taluka level, a separate chief engineer should be appointed for Education Works on the pattern of Buildings and Roads Department, the Education Works Department should be placed under the Ministry of Education and the employees sent to surplus pool should be adjusted without delay.

They warned if their demands were not accepted by the end of the current month, they will stage sit-in before the Governor House on November 5.
