PESHAWAR, Oct 24: An NGO running a centre for street children has sought the help of the Punjab government in its efforts to reconcile children from Punjab found here with their families.

Society for Protection of the Rights of the Child’s regional manager Jehanzeb Khan said the organisation worked for protecting children from abuses, violence and exploitation.

He said with the support of the Save the Children, Sweden and the UK, the organisation had started a drop-in centre for street children in Peshawar to enable them to protect themselves from exploitation. In a letter sent to the Punjab minister for social welfare, Mr Khan said the centre’s purpose was to reintegrate street children into their families.
