ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: The Nigerian High Commission in Islamabad has warned Pakistanis to beware of e-mails and letters offering contract appointment from government organisations, lottery scheme and other claims purportedly supported by Central Bank of Nigeria.

“It has been brought to the attention of the Nigerian High Commission, Islamabad that some e-mails and letters consisting of offers of contract appointment from government organisations, proposal of business and joint ventures from various unidentifiable firms, lottery schemes in the name of finance companies and other claims purportedly supported by the Central Bank of Nigeria, etc. are being received by some Pakistanis and other nationals,” says a press release issued here.

The high commission clarified that these e-mails and letters are bogus and intended to defraud the recipients of such communications.

They are a part of the international Internet scams currently being committed and some of which are emanating from Nigeria.

It is important to note that any genuine contract involving the Nigerian government or business organisations is usually channelled through the high commission, and as such it is advised to clear any business proposal with the Nigeria High Commission, Islamabad, before commitment.
