LAHORE, Oct 19: Sixteen top clubs of Lahore will vie for the top honours in the 2nd Lahore Gymkhana cricket Cup, which will start with the opening match between Universal Club and the hosts Lahore Gymkhana at the Bagh-i-Jinnah ground on Nov 12.

The clubs have been divided into four groups. Besides Lahore Gymkhana and Universal Club the other clubs in pool 'A' are Crescent Club, and Dharampura Gymkhana.

In pool 'B', Model Town Greens, Muslim Gymkhana, P and T and Shining Club are placed. Group 'C' has Punjab Club, Moughalpura Whites, Akhtar Abdul Rehman, Victorious Club while in 'D' Apollo Club, Cricket Centre, Ludhiana Gymkhana and Aligarh are included.

The matches will be played at four different grounds including Model Town Greens, Aligarh, Cricket Centre and Bagh-i-Jinnah.

The winners will earn Rs 100,000 while the runners-up pocket Rs 50,000. Kits and white balls will also be provided by the hosts to all the participating teams.

The matches will be of 50-over-a-side. The draws will be taken out at Bagh-i-Jinnah on Oct 29.

Captain of the Lahore Gymkhana, Naeem Gulzar said that earlier the tournament was to start from Nov 5 but a three-day match between a PCB team against the West Indies at the same ground from Nov 7 deferred it till Nov 12.
