Rs18m for girls’ school buildings

MULTAN, Oct 19: An amount of Rs18 million will be spent on the construction of buildings of 12 girls primary schools in the district.

This was said by district nazim Faisal Mukhtar while briefing a meeting on the progress of educational policies here on Thursday at his office.

He said 50,000 children had been admitted to various schools of the district and now the strength of school-going children stood at 350,000.

He said award of Rs100 under scholarship scheme to girls of class VI to IX had been started in rural areas and 4,257 students would get the stipend.

Mr Mukhtar said the City District Government Multan was giving an inducement bonus to teachers working in remote areas.

He said the government would provide furniture in educational institutions and construct 375 classrooms every year to cope with the shortage.

DISTRICT NAZIMS: A delegation of four district nazims will leave for Indonesia and Thailand on Nov 3 on a study tour.

The Punjab local government department has arranged a study tour of local government and community training centres of Thailand and Indonesia. The district nazims of Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Jehlum and Khushab will attend workshops and training programmes there.
