The centre has been set up to facilitate the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) consumers.

As many as 137,405 consumers, three divisions, 12 sub- divisions and 115 feeders of 11KV will be looked after through this centre.

“After September 11, it became necessary for the Wapda to step up its security measures to circumvent any terrorist attacks”, the Gen Khan said in response to a query.

The centre will facilitate Islamabad territory and the surrounding areas. Three telephone lines, VHF wireless system and a fax machine has been provided to the centre for better communication between the subscribers and the staff.

The centre will also attend matters regarding correction in bills, issuance of duplicate bills and forms for new connections, reconnection after the payment of dues.

Responding to a question, he said that since 75 per cent of the total electricity produced in the country was thermal based therefore the ever changing fuel prices forced us to raise the electricity charges.
