KARACHI, Oct 17: The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has displayed the initial “merit list” on its website: www.duhs.edu.pk, comprising applicants who may be considered for admissions to first year MBBS 2006-07 in the Dow and Sindh medical colleges.

Prof Salahuddin Afsar, principal and chairman, selection board (for admissions) Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), in a press statement here on Tuesday said that the interview letters would soon be issued to first 800 candidates, in the first phase.

Candidates from Merit nos. 1 to 213 were said to be considered for admissions to Dow Medical College, while the candidates from Merit nos. 214 to 426 will be offered admission to Sindh Medical College.

It was further stated that candidates entitled for admission on merit to Sindh Medical College could apply for admission on Self Finance Scheme (UEDP-Local) at the Dow Medical College, provided undertaking is given.

Prof Afsar mentioned that 30 seats were reserved for Liaquat Medical University and Health Sciences (LUMHS) on reciprocal merit cum choice basis.

40 seats each were said to be reserved for Self Finance Scheme (UEDP-Local) at Dow Medical College and Sindh Medical College respectively.

Another six seats, on merit basis, have been reserved for BDS (LUMHS), Jamshoro - Hyderabad, he said adding that all the above seats would be finalised on merit basis only.

Prof Afsar also reiterated that verification of original documents and final allocation of all categories would be done purely on merit cum choice basis by the admission selection board of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) on Oct 29.—APP
