KARACHI, Feb 14: Sindh education minister, Prof Anita Ghulam Ali, has urged the students to participate in extracurricular activities for their healthy growth and development.

Addressing at the annual sports day of the St.Michael, Convent School here on Thursday, she said that the sports were not only vital for health but also created sesnse of discipline in daily life.

Earlier, principal Peter Misquita, presented the welcome address and informed the gathering about the activities on the annual day.

Later, the minister gave away awards and shields to outstanding students. The principal also distributed prizes among the students.

The Blue House (Honesty) won the athletic championship with 638 points. Shahzad Kamal and Hifza Riaz were declared the fastest boy and girl respectively. Sana Shah Nawaz, Omer Tariq, Omair Ahmed Shaikh, Hira Shafique, Saima Shahzad Ali and Umer Ikram were declared best athletes.

Also, Shehzad Kamaluddin and Jaudat Saeed Rahmani were sports players of the year. Faraz Ghani and Khizra Abid were sports persons of the year. Shah M. Assad Hussain and Hifza Riaz were declared exceptionally courteous sports personalities.

The day ended with a tug of war for the senior boys and girls.—APP
