ISLAMABAD, Oct 15: The Pakistan People’s party has condemned the worsening law and order situation in the country and called upon the government to ensure safety and security of people instead of ‘wasting’ national resources and time on ‘witch hunting’ of political opponents.

In a statement on Sunday, MNA Raja Pervez Ashraf said the law and order situation had gone hay wire in the country, and no body was safe.

Crimes have increased due to bad governance, making life miserable for common citizens, he said, while condemning the murder of the brother of a PPP activist in Kharian recently.

Kashif Bajwa, brother of Asif Bajwa, member PPP USA Human Rights Committee, was shot dead by some unknown assailants riding in a car in Kharian cantonment. The deceased was a known vocal PPP supporter.

Raja Pervez Ashraf, deputy parliamentary leader of the party in the National Assembly, sought early arrest of the culprits and awarding punishment to them in accordance with the law of the land.

He said almost daily the press reported some gruesome murder, dacoity, robbery and assault on minors right under the nose of the law-enforcement agencies, but the regime failed to take any action against the criminals who were thriving.

The PPP leader demanded zero tolerance for crime, which, he said, was possible only a representative government accountable to the people was in place.
