LAHORE, Oct 13: Family members of a 25-year-old woman smashed windowpanes and doors of a ward of the Services Hospital to protest her death allegedly due to the negligence of doctors.

Reports said Sadiq of Gulberg’s Ghousia Colony brought his wife Shahida to the Services two weeks ago for delivery.

After giving birth to a child on Sept 25, her condition started worsening. On Friday, she was operated upon but she could not survive.

Sadiq alleged that duty doctors had administered her a wrong injection that caused her death.

He along with the other family members held a demonstration on the premises of the hospital and chanted slogans against the doctors and the administration. They also damaged windowpanes and doors of the Gyne Unit I.

Police had to intervene to control the situation.

Medical Superintendent Dr Ijaz Bhatti reportedly has constituted a four-member team to probe into the incident. He directed the committee to submit a report in this regard within three days.

Meanwhile, the body was handed over to the family without autopsy.
