HYDERABAD, Oct 13: The acting president of the Sindh chapter of the Awami National Party, Aurangzeb Khan Yousufzai, has accused Jamshoro DPO Pir Farid Jan Sarhandi of harassing him.

He said that if justice was not restored to him, he would be forced to launch a protest movement from the platform of his party.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club on Thursday, he said that he owned Al-Zeb petrol pump on the Super Highway near the Toll Plaza from where he used to supply diesel to a transport company comprising 20 to 30 buses.

He said that the transport company was owned by Mullah Rafique and DPO Pir Farid Jan Sarhandi and Kotri SHO Zulfiqar Arain were partners in the company.

He said that keeping in view the fleet of vehicles the company owner entered into a contract with army and took over the possession of a petrol pump in Latifabad near the railway crossing.

He said that an amount of Rs500,000 of diesel was outstanding against Mullah Rafique.

He said that due to the delay in payment, he demanded his outstanding dues and was given a cheque of Rs500,000 on August 1, 2006.

Aurangzeb complained that the cheque was not honoured by the Faisal Bank Bohri Bazar Hyderabad as there was no money in the said account.

He said that he had obtained this in writing from the bank.

He said that since it is an offence, therefore Farid Jan Sarhandi started issuing him threats that if he did not return the bounced cheque, he will be involved in heinous crimes.

He said that as he owned the petrol pump in Jamshoro district, he returned the original cheque on the promise that he would be paid cash amount of Rs500,000 within three days.

However, as a precautionary measure, Aurangzeb said, he retained the photocopy of the cheque.

He complained that instead of paying him his dues, he was continuously threatened with dire consequences by the DPO.

Aurangzeb said that when he ignored the threats, his petrol pump was closed by force on October 10 and his six employees including manager were locked up at Jamshoro police station.

He said that his employees were later released on the same day and he was also allowed to operate the petrol pump.

He said that he contacted his legal counsel and sent petitions to superior judiciary.

He said, he was still receiving threats from the DPO and his life and property were in grave danger.

He appealed to the chief justice of the Sindh High Court, provincial adviser for home affairs and PPO Sindh to refer the matter to NAB as to how a DPO and an SHO have amassed so much wealth as to become partners in 30 air-conditioned coaches.

He also urged the government to investigate why the DPO had closed his petrol pump resulting in huge losses to him.

He warned that if justice was not provided to him he will launch a protest movement from the platform of ANP. Answering a question, if he had any proof about the DPO’s partnership in the transport company.

Aurangzeb said that he had no such written proof but the fact was known to all and sundry.
