PESHAWAR, Oct 12: A union council nazim, naib nazim and a secretary were arrested on Thursday after their pre-arrest bail applications were rejected by a local court in a case of preparing fake resignations of three councillors.

The court of the additional district and sessions judge, Jamaluddin Khan, refused the accused pre-arrest bail.

The FIR against Landi Arbab Union Council nazim Asifullah Qasmi, naib nazim Ashfaq Khan and secretary Abdur Rasheed was registered in September on directives of the court.

They are facing the charge of preparing fake resignations of three councillors to counter a no-confidence motion moved against the nazim.

The court had accepted the application of councillors Umer Khitab, Zahida Parveen and Farzana Shah on Sept 8 and directed the local police to register an FIR against the accused.
