KARACHI: Dengue claims another life

KARACHI, Oct 9: A patient suspected to be suffering from viral haemorrhagic fever died at a private hospital on Monday, while the overall figure of viral fever patients admitted at five government and private hospitals reached 61.

According to Captain (retd) Dr Abdul Majid, the additional secretary of provincial health department and the focal person of the Dengue Fever cell of the Sindh government, one of the in-house patients, Sajjad Gul, 35, a resident of Model Colony, suffering from high-grade fever, a symptom of dengue fever, died at the Liaquat National Hospital on Monday. He was brought to the hospital on Oct 4.

Dr Abdul Majid said that as per data provided by different hospitals in the city, the number of in-house patients suspected to be carrying VHF remained there as follows: LNH 6, the Aga Khan University Hospital 7, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre 19, Civil Hospital Karachi 15 and Ziauddin Hospital 14.
