BAGH, Oct 8: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday visited a 60-bed hospital built with Chinese help and appreciated the role of all foreign countries and donor agencies that played a key role in rebuilding the devastated health facilities.

The prime minister who was on a visit to Azad Jammu and Kashmir on the first anniversary of the Oct 8 quake that killed over 73,000 people, to personally see the pace of reconstruction.

The prime minister was informed that another 200-bed hospital with modern facilities was being built with assistance from Germany and would augment provision of health facilities to the people living in this remote area.

Almost the entire health infrastructure in AJK was destroyed in the earthquake that also rendered 3.5 million homeless.

The prime minister addressing a gathering appreciated the zeal and vigour of the pe-ople who faced the calamity with a resolve to rebuild their lives.

He also noted the role of volunteers, the people of Pakistan, the NGOs, the army and the foreign agencies and countries that came to assist the people in the quake-hit areas.—APP
