QUETTA, Oct 4: Rockets were fired at a security checkpost in Kahan area of Kohlu district while a powerful explosion rocked Sumangli area here on Wednesday.

Official sources said militants attacked the checkpost of Frontier Corps near Kahan and fired five rockets at brief intervals. However, all rockets landed in isolated places.

No casualty or property loss was reported. The sources said that FC men retaliated and fired many rockets towards the position of militants who escaped.

A powerful explosion in Sumangli early in the morning caused panic in the area. “It was a home-made bomb planted with a timer,” a police officer said, adding no loss of life or property was reported. A gas pipeline passing through the area remained safe.
