SADIQABAD, Oct 4: Water-logging in and around Chachran Sharif has affected many buildings and institutions and the worst hit among them is a girls’ high school.
Information gleaned by this correspondent reveals that the waterlogged land of the school is posing a serious threat to the building where the students attend classes under a pall of constant fear. It has also become a plague-spot for it causes diseases among the students and passersby.
An electric motor had been installed on the land to drain out the water but it has been lying out of order for quite some time now. Sullage has found a permanent abode in the plot.
The students and residents of the areas in the vicinity have time and again protested against the tehsil council’s failure to clear off the water but all their plea have fallen on deaf ears. A historical mosque is at a stone’s throw from the institution and the entire passage to it has been waterlogged, causing a great deal of inconvenience to the pedestrians.
When the matter was brought to the notice of Chachran Sharif union council nazim Sahibzada Kamran Fareed, he claimed that the UC was earlier entrusted with the task of ensuring cleanliness and environment-friendly conditions and sufficient funds were provided to do the job.
However, after the audit department objections, the responsibility was handed over to the Khanpur tehsil municipal administration which has failed to take stock of the rot.
