Salam Teacher Day today

ISLAMABAD, Oct 4: In Pakistan, like other parts of the world, International Teachers Day is being observed on Thursday (Oct5) with various programmes highlighting teachers’ role and importance of the auspicious occasion.

The day will be celebrated as ‘Salam Teacher Day’ to pay respect and tribute to the teaching community of the country for their selfless role in nation building.

“Best Teacher of the Year” award will be given to 35 teachers drawn from all over the country, Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas on the basis of their performance in a ceremony at the National Library Auditorium.

The teachers will also be given Rs30,000 cash, along with a gold medal and a commendation certificate in recognition of their services.

Senate standing committee on education and science and technology chairperson Senator Razina Alam in a message said quality teachers were critical for good education and developing child’s capacity and desire to learn.—APP
