Two killed as rivals clash on land

SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 2: Two people were killed in an armed clash between two groups over a land dispute here on Monday at Hichkipura village in Sharaqpur police precincts.

Reports said two groups, led by Liaquat and Mehboob, had an old rivalry over a piece of land. On Monday, both the parties exchanged fire as a result of which Asghar Bhatti of Liaquat group and Mirza of Mehboob group were killed.

Police are investigating.

In another incident, some unidentified dacoits shot dead a man on offering resistance here on Monday in Farooqabad city.

Bandits entered the house of Nawaz. In the meantime, his brother Saeed woke up and offered resistance. The dacoits opened fire, killing Saeed on the spot.

Police are investigating.

SUSPECT HELD: City police on Monday arrested a suspect from an Ahla-i-Hadith mosque at Batti Chowk. The police have recovered illegal weapons from his possession.

Further investigation is under way.
