LAHORE, Oct 1: Paceman Mohammad Asif was suffering pain in his upper back and will undergo medical tests on Monday, before determining the factual problem, said PCB doctor, Sohail Saleem.

Asif faced the problem during the four-day match while representing Sialkot, the winners of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, against Indian domestic champion Uttar Pradesh, in Dharmasala, (India) from Sept 27.

Talking to Dawn Dr Sohail explained that that he checked Asif on Sunday and the problem did not look serious but after getting medical reports he would be in a better position to say something final.

He said there was no problem with Asif's elbow, which forced him to miss first three Tests of the last four match series against England in England.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that 15 hours drive from New Delhi to Dharmasala caused Asif’s back pain.

The Sialkot team left for New Delhi by air but from there onwards they had to travel by road.

Asif’s availability for the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy is crucial for Pakistan, since he has become a main strike bowler.
