GHALANAI, Sept 30: Four tribesmen were killed and six others suffered injuries in a clash between two groups on Saturday, officials and witnesses said.

Protesters had blocked the Bajaur-Peshawar road to protest against the arrest of 15 tribesmen of the Mohmand Agency.

The Bajaur Agency administration had arrested the tribesmen on charges of their involvement in the kidnapping of doctor Fazal Mabood.

The Mohmand Agency administration, after negotiations with protesters to lift the road blockade, sent a jirga to the Bajaur Agency administration to immediately release the detained men.

When the protesters agreed to open the road, two groups — one favouring the lifting of the blockade and the other opposing it — exchanged harsh words, which led to indiscriminate firing.

Hazrat Nabi, Taweez Gul, Umar Gul and Rahim Gul died on the spot, while Gul Ahmad Jan, Noor Mohammad, Sartaj, Zahid, Laal Gul and Mohammad Sher suffered injuries.
