PESHAWAR, Sept 30: A separate tribal gallery will be set up at the Peshawar museum for which PC-1 of Rs46 million has already been approved.

According to a handout, NWFP Chief Secretary Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi was given a briefing during his visit to the Peshawar Museum on Saturday.

Tourism Secretary Abdul Jalil, Museums Director Saleh Mohammad, Architect Shahab Khan and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The chief secretary suggested that the proposed gallery should depict Islamic architect in order to educate visitors and let them know the history and culture of the tribal people.

He emphasised that the building for the tribal gallery should be designed in such a way that it might not affect the look of the Peshawar museum’s building.

Talking to reporters, the secretary said that sufficient funding had been made for preservation of cultural heritage in every district of the NWFP, adding that the government would provide funds for the interior renovation of the building of the Peshawar Museum.

He directed he tourism secretary to convene a meeting to further discuss the plan.
