ISLAMABAD, Feb 13: A team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will shortly visit all the four provincial headquarters and major urban centres to finalize the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, an official said.

They said the management team would meet people from cross section of society including elected local bodies representatives, members of bar associations, chambers of commerce, chamber of agriculture and other bodies, the official said.

It would seek their views on the economic, legal, police and constitutional reforms being done by the government, and to evolve a mechanism for curbing corruption in society, particularly in the public dealing departments.

The strategy, being formulated by the NAB, aims at reviewing all the existing anti-corruption laws and formulate a new framework. “The new legal framework would be skeleton, but effective,” he said.

The team would also seek input from the superior judiciary and all the high courts before finalizing the new laws, the official added.

International anti-corruption agencies based in Britain and the United States had also been approached by the NAB authorities to benefit from their experience, and acquire expertise in curbing, and tracking down white collar crime, they said.

The NAB has recently issued advertisement for hiring consultants for assistance in the preparation of the new laws.
