MMA to be defeated in polls: PML leader

Published September 28, 2006

PESHAWAR, Sept 27: PML leader Muazzam Butt on Wednesday held the MMA-led provincial government responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the NWFP and said that people would reject the religious alliance in the next election.

Addressing a news conference, he said that the MMA had failed to implement its agenda and did nothing practical for the enforcement of Shariah in the province.

Criticizing the religious alliance, the PML deputy information secretary said the MMA could no more dodge masses with cosmetic measures, like covering female images on billboards and compelling cinemas to stop screening films. “Just to score points and consolidate its degrading image, the MMA forced cinema owners to stop screening films in Ramazan,” he said.—PPI
