LONDON, Sept 25: Lancashire captain Mark Chilton says he has no regrets about his cricket county’s decision to employ only one overseas player for much of 2006 season.
Lancashire maximised their quota of two overseas players for just last three games of campaign.
They were pipped for County Championship title by Sussex, who rotated three top-class Pakistanis.
Chilton said: “We made decision at start of season to give some of home-grown players a chance.”
Sussex, who always had much smaller squad, had high-class bowling of Pakistan's Mushtaq Ahmed and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan. When Naved was injured or with Pakistan squad, all-rounder Yasir Arafat shone.—Agencies
