SRINAGAR, Sept 24: Four suspected militants were killed in a gunbattle with soldiers in occupied Kashmir on Sunday, an army spokesman said.

Soldiers began a search operation just after dawn on Sunday after a tip that some militants had been spotted near Trikanjan, a hilly forested area north of Srinagar, said Col Hemant Juneja. A fierce gunbattle followed in which four militants were killed, he said.

Soldiers had cordoned off the area and were searching the forests for more rebels, Col Juneja said.—AP
