QUETTA, Sept 24: Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Nasreen Khetran has said that awareness about diseases guarantees a healthy society.

She was speaking at a public health awareness programme organised by the Aga Khan University Hospital on ‘the first signs, symptoms and care’ here on the other day.

Consultant urologist Prof Dr Khurram Siddique delivered a lecture on recent advances in management of renal stone and prostate diseases.

The minister said that people should get awareness about basic reasons, sings and symptoms of any disease because it helped in preventive measures and timely treatment.

She said launching of such informative programme was a good step of the Aga Khan University.

However, she suggested that such programmes should also be launched in far-flung areas where people were not getting proper health facilities.

“People should benefit from such programmes for maintaining their health,” Mrs Nasreen added.

She said renal stone and prostate diseases were on the increase in Balochistan and urged the Aga Khan Hospital authorities to establish a modern hospital in Quetta.

Earlier Dr Khurram Siddique informed the audience about the first signs, symptoms and care of the two diseases. He spoke at length on the subject and answered over 50 question of people about prostate cancer and stone disease.
