AL QUDS, Sept 22: A book written by Mukhtaran Mai, who has been subjected to gang rape in a village Miranwala has been published in Hebrew in Israel.

Although this book has not yet come in the market, a book fair held at Al Quds this received utmost acceptability, reports BBC.

According to radio report, the English meaning of the Hebrew title of this book is “stain” and blemish. Recently full page advertisements have been coming in almost all the newspapers here, it is learnt.

“One advertisement contains two photographs of Mukhtaran Mai. Her another photograph has been placed on cover page of the book. Her name appears as author.

Later, her story has been narrated. In the name of “Family Honour” the elders pronounced the punishment of gang rape against her, the report highlighted.

In the book she mentioned that in Pakistan women generally do not raise voice after being subjected to such oppression. She went to the court against this oppression. Thus now she is presented in Pakistan as an example of women who are fighting against such oppressions.

The Kinsret Jamura Bita is the biggest publishing house of Israel. A spokesman of publishing firm confirmed that an agreement had been signed with Mukhtaran Mai.—Online
