RAWALPINDI, Sept 21: The family members of over 11 missing persons reported to be picked up by security agencies took to the streets demanding their immediate release here on Thursday.

The protesters including women, children and elderly gathered at Marrir Chowk holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans like “Release my father”, “Let our sons celebrate Eid with us”, and “Uncle president where is my papa?”, etc.

The protest rally dispersed at Rawalpindi Press Club where the participants held a press conference and warned the government of countrywide protests if their relatives were not released before Eidul Fitr.

The mother of nuclear scientist Attiqur Rehman, who was picked up from Abbotabad on the first day of his marriage, regretted that despite the directives of Lahore High Court (LHC)’s Rawalpindi bench her son was still in the custody of security agencies.

She appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the issue and ensure ‘Justice for all.’ MNA Aziz said the number of people whose relatives have been missing is increasing day by day and they are contacting him for help.

He said a rally would also be taken out from Lal Masjid to Aabpara on Friday to protest the capture of innocent citizens.
