Tariq, Yousuf win in Seniors Tennis

KARACHI, Sept 16: Home player Tariq Aziz advanced into the next round of 45-plus singles of Pakistan International Seniors Tennis Championship by getting the better of Ayendra Jayasingha in straight sets at Karachi Club on Saturday.

After initial resistance he chalked up a 6-4, 6-0 victory to get through to the second round. Yousuf Suleman disposed off G. Balreddy 6-3, 6-3 to propel into next stage of 55 plus singles.

Ejaz Sarhadi whipped compatriot Akhtar Aliman 6-1, 6-3 in the 35 plus while Anis Younus routed Gunter Hauke 6-1, 6-1.

Sunday is the rest day in the tournament and the matches will resume on Monday at 6.00pm.

Results:

35 plus singles (first round): Ejaz sarhadi bt Akhtar Aliman 6-1, 6-3.

45 plus singles (first round): Tariq Aziz bt Ayendra Jayasingha 6-4, 6-0. (Second round): Anis Younus bt Gunter Hauke 6-1, 6-1.

55 plus singles (first round): Yousuf Suleman bt G. Balreddy 6-3, 6-3.
