KARACHI: Letterbox repaired

Published September 15, 2006

KARACHI, Sept 14: The Deputy Postmaster General (KPR I, Karachi), referring to a picture of an open / broken door letter box appearing on Sept 4 issue of the Dawn has said that the letter box has since been repaired.

The DPG says the letter box installed in front of the main entrance of the GPO on I. I. Chundrigar Road, was cleared on Saturday (Sept 2, 2006) and found in safe condition.

An inquiry revealed that the letter box was either broken by some miscreant during Sunday holiday (Sept 3, 2006) or the nail of hook which may have rusted was further damaged by the recent heavy downpour in the city. The hook of the door of the letter box has since been replaced. The officials at fault are being proceeded against to guard against any such recurrence.
