Usman reaches 1,000 runs

KARACHI, Feb 12: Bahawalpur’s young opening batsman Usman Tariq became the eighth player this season to complete 1,000 runs on his way to an unbeaten 163 in the Quaid Trophy Grade-I tie against Sargodha at Sports Stadium in Sargodha Tuesday.

Usman, who has so far faced 248 balls during his first century of the season, shared an opening stand of 106 in 113 minutes with his older brother and fellow left-hander Hammad Tariq (47 off 90 balls).

Skipper Bilal Khilji, another left-hander, was batting on 62 (off 191 balls) at stumps with Bahawalpur in total command at 303 for one after winning the toss.
