Close relative stuns Chaudhrys

GUJRAT, Sept 11: Former MNA Chaudhry Mubashar Hussain, a close relative of the Chaudhrys, has said that he is determined to contest the next elections for the slot of MNA from NA-107 putting the Chaudhrys in a political dilemma.

The former MNA said this at a meeting hosted by former district council member Raja Zulfiqar at his residence in Thutha Rai Bhadar.

He said the sitting MNA from the constituency was elected on a PPP ticket, but he still had links and close relations with the top PPP leadership.

Apparently the sitting MNA had joined the ruling PML, but he was not sincere with the party, Mr Mubashar said and added that was why he had decided to contest the next election.

It may be mentioned that Mubashar’s father Chaudhry Tajamal Hussain, a two-time former MNA, is a cousin of Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi. Chaudhry Mubashar is a cousin of Chaudhry Shujaat, Chaudhry Wajahat, Chaudhry Shafaat and Pervaiz Elahi.

Sources privy to a family meeting told Dawn that Tajamal Hussain had clearly asked the Chaudhrys that his son would be the next candidate from NA-107 and sought ticket from them.

If my son denied the ticket, he cautioned the Chaudhrys that he would join any other league, they further quoted Tajamal as telling them.

Rehman Naseer Marala of the PPP was elected MNA in Oct 2002 elections by defeating ruling PML nominee Syed Noorul Hasan Shah. Marala had later joined the PML.

Syed Noorul Hasan Shah had already announced that he would again contest the elections from the same constituency.
