Iran, EU hold talks on N-plan

Published September 10, 2006

VIENNA, Sept 9: Last-ditch EU-Iran nuclear talks are to continue on Sunday in Vienna, top Iranian nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani said describing a first day as ‘constructive’.

“We had some good and constructive talks, we made some progress in some areas and we shall continue tomorrow,” Mr Larijani said after meeting EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana for just over three hours here.

He also said: “We had some long talks with Mr Solana and one of his deputies, and we discussed different issues, somehow enshrined within the package proposed by the European side and also the response which was given by Iran.”

Mr Solana will stay overnight in the Austrian capital, his spokeswoman Christina Gallach said, adding ‘the talks have been positive and constructive’.—AFP
