SUKKUR, Sept 8: The Sukkur taluka council was adjourned on Friday following uproar over construction of multipurpose commercial plazas in the city. Some councillors belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, including Ayaz and Intizaar Shaikh, suggested that the Municipal Stadium, Mehran Markaz, Mehran Cultural Center, Victoria Market and Old TMO bungalow should be demolished and multipurpose commercial plazas be constructed on the places.

Awam Dost panel councillors Deedar Magsi, Majeed Malik, Zeenat Bhambhro and Mumtaz Mirani strongly opposed the idea.

They said that the MQM wanted to favour some builders for their own benefit and the move was nothing but aimed at favouritism and nepotism.
