VEHARI, Sept 4: Gagoo police claimed on Monday to have arrested an activist of a banned religious organisation and recovered a large number of illegal arms, fake registration of motorcycles, arms and other important documents from his possession.

The police did not reveal the identity of the outfit. Gagoo SHO Rafique Joiya said Nasir Rafique was involved in smuggling of arms and fake currency business.

When contacted, Sahuka police official Abdul Sattar said accused Nasir, a resident of Chak no 245-EB, Burewala tehsil, had been booked in a motorcycle-snatching case a few days back.

Meanwhile, DPO Malik Tassadaq Hayat said the police were investigating into his links with any banned outfit.
