GUJRANWALA, Sept 4: Over two dozen buildings in Wazirabad were declared dangerous on Monday after a survey conducted by the Tehsil Municipal Administration and asked owners to demolish them immediately to avoid any loss of life.
Reports said that town nazim and former MPA Chaudhry Nawazish Ali Cheema had directed the TMA to conduct the survey of all dilapidated buildings in Wazirabad. While owners of these buildings were reluctant to vacate them.
The town administration warned them that cases would be got registered against them in case of any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, the Building department’s district officer visited civil courts in Gujranwala and declared the building dangerous here on Monday.
Reports said that some half a dozen courts, the district bar canteen and the bar room besides retiring rooms of judges were located in the building.
The district officer informed the judge through a memorandum that the building had outlived its span and could be collapsed any moment.
He suggested that the building should not be used further to avoid any loss of live and the government record.
RECOVERED: A youth, who was kidnapped for ransom from Amir Park in Aroop Town, was recovered while Banu police also arrested the accused on Monday.
It was reported that a fake pir, Javed, had rented a house of Irshad Ahmad a few months back.
The accused kidnapped his son Imran and demanded Rs1.5 million in ransom for his release. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided his hideout and recovered the youth besides arresting the accused.
