QUETTA, Sept 2: Two girls’ schools and a house were set afire during protest rallies in Kharan, Panjgur and Khuzdar while a powerful explosion rocked Sibi on Saturday night.

Protesters attacked and torched a girls’ school in the Panjgur area.

Sources said that another girls’ school was burnt in Kharan where a mob also tried to attack various government offices.

According to officials, a mob torched the house of one Abdul Majeed in Khuzdar.

A home-made device was detonated near a house in Sibi.

Meanwhile, armed men reportedly kidnapped the driver and cleaner of a Karachi-bound cargo vehicle that was coming from Quetta. Police said that armed men had first opened fire on the trailer belonging to a motorcycle manufacturing company near Ornach area, 40kms from Wadh town. They had also punctured all the vehicle’s tyres.
