Ex-judge’s son shot dead by robbers

LAHORE, Aug 31: Robbers shot dead the son of a former Chief Justice of the Shariat Court in the North Cantonment area here on Thursday. Dr Taufiq, 39, the son of Justice Dr Mahboob, was on way by a car when two motorcyclists intercepted him at gunpoint in Sadar. They shot at him when he put up resistance. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

City police chief Khwaja Khalid Farooq and DIG (operations) Aamir Zulfiqar reached the spot and constituted teams to investigate.

ROBBERS: Faisal Town, Defence and Green Town police claim to have busted three gangs of robbers and arrested their nine members.

They are Zahoor, Amir, Adnan, Haroon, Navid, Khalid, Shahbaz, Omair Butt and Atif. They confessed to 45 robbery cases registered against them in different police stations of the city.

As many as 18 cell phones, a computer, travel checks, foreign currency worth Rs100,000 and Rs10,000 cash were recovered from their possession.
