KHAIRPUR, Aug 30: The district administration has failed to implement its plan for renovating and developing the Shrine of Sufi poet Sachal Sarmast at Daraza. Talking to newsmen on Wednesday, the Sajjada Nasheen of the shrine, Sakhi Qabool Mohammad, said meetings were being held to finalise arrangements of upcoming Urs celebrations of the Sufi saint, but he was being ignored.

He said that last year the district administration had announced some development work for the Dargah, which included supply of water, repair of the shrine and construction of residential area for the Faqeers, but none of the promises had been fulfilled.

TWO INJURED: Dacoits snatched a motorcycle from an employee of the Sukkur DCO office and when he resisted the move, they opened fire injuring the man and his daughter here on Tuesday night.

Abdul Sattar, 32, and his daughter Noor Jehan were on his way from the Khairpur Civil Hospital to his village Simang on the motorcycle.

Abdul Sattar and his daughter were admitted to the civil hospital in critical condition.

KILLED: One person was killed over an old enmity in the Ahmedpur area here on Wednesday.

Mohammad Panjal, 35, son of Peeral Maitlo, was sitting in his Otaq in village Dur Mohammad Maitlo when three armed men shot him dead and fled.

INJURED: Four persons were injured in an armed attack near Thari Mirwah on Tuesday night.
