QUETTA, Aug 26: Power supply to various areas of Kohlu district was disrupted as two pylons of Barkhan-Kohlu transmission line were blown up on Saturday. A gas pipeline in the Loti gas field was also blown up.

According to official sources, unidentified armed men planted heavy explosives under two big towers of the 32KV Kohlu-Barkhan transmission line near Lasyzai area of Kohlu and blew them up, disrupting power supply to Kohlu township and many other areas of the district.

The Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) staff rushed to the site and started the repair work.

“Replacement of towers and transmission line will take time,” sources said, adding that the staff would try to restore supply to Kohlu and others areas as early as possible.

A pipeline supplying gas to the Sui plant from wall No. 6 of Loti gas field was also blown up in the early hours, they said.

The 16-inch-diameter pipeline was blown up with heavy explosives, they said, adding that the repair work would take at least 24 hours.
