Membership of DBA lawyers restored

OKARA, Aug 23: The disciplinary committee of Punjab bar council (PBC) on Wednesday restored the DBA membership of three lawyers on their appeal. Reports said some weeks back, Okara bar former president Rana Shaukat Ali Khan along with lawyers Rana Muhammad Idrees and Javid Ashraf Gujjar had beaten up DBA secretary-general Rai Arshad Raza for pursuing an embezzlement case against them at PBC, Lahore. The PBC disciplinary committee had cancelled their licences and later the Okara bar had also deprived them of their memberships.

SLAUGHTERED: A man allegedly slaughtered his wife here on Wednesday at Wan Dibboki for second marriage.

Reports said Afzal used to quarrel with his wife Ashraf Bibi over petty issues and threatened her with contracting second marriage.

On Tuesday evening, the couple was cutting branches of trees at the field where Afzal axed her to death after exchanging hot words with her.

DACOIT KILLED: Dacoits injured a person and his son on offering resistance while one of their accomplices was killed in a shootout with villagers here on Wednesday at 6/4-L.

Reports said three dacoits entered the house of agriculturist Zaigham Ali and started collecting valuables. They injured Zaigham and his son Naeem Ahmed on resistance and fled. The villagers chased them. During a shootout, a dacoit was killed. — Correspondent
