PESHAWAR, Aug 21: The city district government will shift car showrooms from the main city to Ring Road and Charsadda Road to smoothen traffic flow. Officials said that over 300 car showrooms, located in different parts of the city, particularly University Road would be shifted to the outskirts of the provincial capital.

They said that the district government would establish two car villages at different places where the outlets dealing in sale and purchase of vehicles would be shifted.

Peshawar Nazim Ghulam Ali said that the showrooms on University Road, Charsadda Road and other parts of the city was one of the major hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic as showroom owners had encroached upon the service roads.

He said that a few years back it was decided to remove car showrooms from busy streets to a proper location, but the plan was dropped.

Officials said that the district government had decided to acquire land on Ring Road and Charsadda Road for the proposed car villages. For this purpose, section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act would be invoked after identification of sites.

The district government would develop the site and would be handed over to car showroom owners at low prices.
