GUJRANWALA, Aug 20: Qila Dedar Singh police claimed on Sunday to have arrested a three-member dacoits’ gang, including brother of a union council nazim, on Hafizabad Road and recovered looted goods from their possession.

Police said the accused had set up a picket near the town on Hafizabad Road and were looting passers-by. They intercepted councillor Akhter and injured him on offering resistance.

The injured was admitted to DHQ hospital where he told the police that the ring leader was brother of a UC nazim. Later, a police party conducted a raid and arrested them.

The arrested have been identified as ring leader Majid alias Maji, Muhammad Husain and Qaiser Mahmood. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
