Wasim stars in Zone-I victory

KARACHI, Aug 15: Wasim Naeem shone with the bat to help Zone-I defeat Zone-V by five wickets in the PCB Karachi region Inter-district cricket championship at Landhi Gymkhana Ground on Tuesday.

Wasim struck 10 fours in his 69 as Zone-I reached their target for the loss of five wickets on the final day of the match after opening day's play was washed out.

Sharjeel Ashraf finished unbeaten on 28.

Earlier left arm spinner Abdul Qadir took four for 51in 14.2 overs and Wasim got two for 39 in 11 overs as Zone-V were spun out for 167.

The other two matches at Student Ground and KCCA Stadium were abandoned without a ball being bowled.
