KARACHI, Aug 7: Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro on Monday said that the provincial government was considering constituting a body for the welfare of teachers' community and asked teachers to perform their prime responsibility of teaching.

Talking to a teachers’ delegation, she said she always tried to solve problems facing teachers including their promotions and other service matters.

“But I also urge them that they must perform their major responsibility, that is teaching before demanding any relief” she said adding that she was considering constitution of a teachers’ advisory committee to look into genuine issues facing the teaching community.

Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim will also be approached by her department to resolve health, education and residential problems being faced by the teachers and their families, she added.

The minister assured the visiting delegation that rules would be reviewed to promote primary teachers into the next grade as Junior School Teacher (JST) on acquiring the degree of BEd.-PPI
